WALTHAM, Mass. – July 09, 2008 - D2Hawkeye Inc., the market leader in transforming healthcare data into valuable information for managing clinical risk and costs, announced today that its research group, working in collaboration with the Operations Research Center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has had a major predictive modeling paper accepted by the premier Journal of Operations Research, a top-tier, peer-reviewed journal.
The article, "Algorithmic Prediction of Health Care Costs," will be published this fall in a special issue of Operations Research dedicated to healthcare. While the content is embargoed until just prior to publication, the article describes the accuracy of D2's data mining methodology and risk management technology; and it challenges R-squared measures as relative (not absolute) measures of fit, highlighting the added contribution of medical knowledge to the accuracy of prediction of high cost individuals.
