D2Hawkeye was founded in Boston in 2001 by Chris Kryder, M.D., a physician and entrepreneur with a vision of combining expertise in medical management with advanced database mining technology to improve medical care while lowering costs.

By 2003, the company had released a commercial version of its flagship data mining application D2HawkeyeExplorer®, and signed Sun Life Financial as its first global distribution partner.

In 2005, health plans, Utilization Management and Disease Management companies, Pharmacy Benefits Managers and other segments of the healthcare market were discovering D2Hawkeye products. The D2Connect™ division was established to provide data outsourcing and information technology services.

The 100^th customer was signed in 2006, by which time D2Hawkeye was serving every major segment of the healthcare industry and generating analytics for more than 8 million consumers every month. The company established its D2Consulting division, a medical and clinical advisory service, and released the beta version of D2HawkeyeAnalyzer™, an OLAP product that enables advanced users to build their own data sets and analyses.
